Overview
The Pearl is a perfect example of city planning done right. It was once a neighborhood where few people ventured but after years of careful planning and hard work it has been transformed into one of Portland’s most renowned neighborhoods.
Getting around is very easy and usually doesn’t require a car. Like most of Portland, the streets are numerical going north to south, and alphabetical going east to west. It is extremely family-friendly with several parks readily accessible within walking distance.
One of the most iconic Portland icons is the Portland Streetcar. It runs from Nob Hill in NW Portland, through the Pearl District, into downtown and all the way to the newly built South Waterfront. The streetcar line is free from downtown to Glisan St. in the Pearl.
