Overview
One of the benefits of living in Goose Hollow is its quick access to the MAX trains. Whether you’re commuting simply to downtown Portland or as far as Hillsboro or Gresham it’s a quick walk to the MAX line from most anywhere in Goose Hollow.
Businesses in the area consist mostly of professional services ranging from advertising & design, Realtors and lawyers, to private practitioners and outpatient services.
The Goose Hollow Inn and The Leaky Roof Pub and Grill are two of the better-known local businesses in the neighborhood. The Leaky Roof Pub and Grill as you might guess looks a bit ordinary and unless you know what you’re looking for it’s quite easy to drive right past it. The bar has an average beer selection but their most impressive feature is the wall of whiskey.
Just around the corner you’ll find the Goose Hollow Inn run by former Portland Mayor Bud Clark. While mayor, Bud Clark lead the campaign to create the Oregon Convention Center, created the nationally recognized 12-Point Homeless Plan, aided downtown development, and supported growing local mass transit. Mayor Clark also endorsed The Mayor’s Ball, since then this annual charity event has featured many independent artists from the northwest and may have been instrumental (pardon the pun) in fueling the 90s grunge movement.
On the north edge of Goose Hollow is PGE Park, a multi-purpose sports facility. PGE Park is home to the Portland Timbers soccer team. Already steeped in sports and entertainment history, PGE Park will undergo a $31 million renovation that will make it the most intimate, exciting and authentic soccer facility in the United States. The renovation will elevate PGE Park’s facilities to Major League Soccer standards and enhance the fan experience of attending an event at the stadium by increasing the functionality of the venue and introducing new amenities.
Some of these features include, but are not limited to, the new east side KeyBank Club, an expanded Team Store, new concession stands and more group and family viewing decks. Additionally, the renovation will preserve PGE Park’s ability to be a year-round community center and play host to more than 250 events annually, including Portland State football and an array of youth sports and community-based events.Visit the renovated PGE Park and 3D tour
Immediately next door to PGE Park is The Multnomah County Athletic Club, otherwise know as The MAC. MAC is a private not-for-profit athletic and social club located in downtown Portland, Oregon, at 18th and SW Salmon streets. Formed in 1891 by 26 football players, Multnomah Athletic Club means as much to families as it does to athletes. A complete club, with first-rate facilities, superb cuisine, and fun social activities, MAC is a second home to many members. The eight-level main clubhouse overlooks the 19,000-seat PGE Park and is an easy walk from downtown Portland. Covered parking for more than 544 autos is provided across the street in the club’s garage. Undoubtedly the premier health club in the metro area, the drawback is getting a membership into the club. They use a lottery system for adding new members and even then, new openings for membership are few and far in between.
